Assessing
Initially, we will discuss your individual requirements and do our best to build up an idea of your likes and dislikes, your tastes and your budget. Clothing should not only suit the physique of the client; it must suit the personality and the lifestyle.
No two suits are the same. Nor are any two clients. Some clients wish us to follow their instructions to the finest detail. Others would prefer a guiding hand through the process. Either approach can be adopted and we’re delighted to serve as a clothing consultant, helping you to discover what clothing would best meet your requirements and your desires. At Paton & Dhoot, that level of attention is not an add-on; it is all part of our service.
Measuring
Once we have the measure of your tastes, we will take the measure of your body. Accuracy is paramount; we insist upon perfection and precision.
Bespeaking
Once your dimensions have been recorded we proceed to cloth selection and garment design. Some customers know the weight and colour of cloth they like. For others, this may be their first experience of tailor-made clothing. Whichever type of client you are, rest assured we will give you as much or as little guidance as you require.
Whether you want a navy herringbone, a charcoal pin-stripe or something more unusual, we carry a comprehensive selection of cloths to suit all tastes and budgets.
Once you’ve chosen your suit fabric, the cloth has been ‘spoken for’. Hence the term bespoke has, since the early 17th century, been used to describe a tailor who makes clothes according to the individual’s specific personal requirements.
Detailing
Finally we will discuss and decide upon the correct suit detailing. Double breasted or single breasted. Three or two button. Centre vent or ticket pocket. The many choices of characteristics and features are the final customising touches in the process of tailoring your suit.
